Malaysian Born, Mr V.S Chandran grew up in Batang Kali Malaysia. He and his siblings grew up watching their father, Mr Sellapan, in the kitchen cooking often. Grandfather would cook for his family, friends and during festival season, for the entire neighbourhood.
During the day, Mr Sellapan will be out and about in their family farm; teaching the children everything there is to know about farming, looking after cows, goats, chickens and ducks, running a business with moral values what it takes to be a wholesaler.
Mr Chandran would look forward to returning home from the farm to watch his father cook with fond interest. Mr Chandran was inspired to be a chef just like his father. His dedication and natural talent led him and his wife, Mrs Mallar, to open a catering business before venturing into Mallar Bistro.
Mr Chandran was determined to continue his father’s legacy and pass on life and business lessons.
In 2019, Mr Chandra and his wife decided to run a bistro in the heart of Sri Desa Hartamas, serving the special homemade spices blend taught by his father.
Ever since, Mallar Bistro has been delivering the taste of its authentic homestyle cooking without compromising the ambience, cleanliness and exceptional service.
Ultimately, we would like to feel that Mallar Bistro is a welcome addition to the Desa Sri Hartamas neighbourhood and a place that served the community. A place where people can pop in for an afternoon bru coffee, a plate of the Paal Apam (Indian Pancake), a relaxing meal with colleagues, a Sunday lunch with the family or a late-night nasi goreng paprik with friends.
